Launch event to be held in the Mayor’s Parlour

We would like to warmly invite you to join us to celebrate the launch of the Kensington and Chelsea Winter Warmth Campaign at the Mayor’s Parlour. We are so grateful for the Mayor’s support and hope you can come along and raise a glass on December 6th from 5:30 – 7pm.

This campaign is inspired by people who last year approached us wanting to donate their Winter Fuel Payment to support vulnerable people who desperate need of help to make it through the winter. This year we are encouraging people to give what they can to relieve the high rate of fuel poverty in our area and make this winter a healthier and happier one for all!

We’d be delighted to see you there showing support of this vital initiative that will make a real and immediate difference to the lives of our neighbours that need our help.

Sponsorship Confirmed

We can proudly announce that we have two significant business bodies sponsoring the Kensington and Chelsea Winter Warmth Campaign: British Gas and the locally based company Associated Newspapers.

We are delighted to have them standing alongside us on this campaign and their help will certainly ensure that we hit the ground running! Their sponsorship will mean that we can now make an even greater difference to older people suffering in fuel poverty this winter.

So, may we give the warmest thanks to British Gas and Associated Newspapers for their kind donations!

Winter Warmth Campaign!

Every winter all UK residents over the age of 60 receive a Winter Fuel Payment of £200 from the Government as a contribution towards their winter bills. Unfortunately, with a bitterly cold winter forecast, £200 just isn’t enough for many financially vulnerable pensioners.

The average single pensioner is spending 16 per cent of their pension (inclusive of their Winter Fuel Payment) on their energy bills, which means they are living in fuel poverty as more than 10 per cent of their household income is consumed by their fuel bills. Over 25,000 unnecessary deaths occur each year due to fuel poverty. We must make sure that this winter that is not the statistic.

For some Borough residents, the allocated £200 is a needless financial boost. If you feel you can live without your Government allowance please kindly donate it to us to take the strain off those worrying about how they will make it through this winter.

With your help we will be able to subsidise heating repairs and maintenance for older residents and fund the provision of extended advice services to help address fuel bills and debt issues. We will create local “hotspots” in cafes and other public places where older people, who might otherwise become isolated, will be encouraged to gather together to socialise with others.

Join with The Kensington & Chelsea Foundation, Age Concern Kensington & Chelsea and the NHS Kensington & Chelsea in warming the cockles of our disadvantaged neighbours this winter season and help save lives!

PLEASE KEEP CHECKING OUR BLOG FOR DETAILS OF THE LAUNCH!!!

If you wish to donate your Winter Fuel payment or make a donation even though you’re not in receipt of the payment please call Jeremy Raphaely/ Frankie Pryse-Jones today on 020 7229 5499 or email team@thekandcfoundation.com
